August 2020
As we find ourselves in the 5th month of Shelter in Place, we hope this finds you all: healthy, peaceful, and continuing to stay safe. In the spirit of these wishes, we are excited to announce the launch of Duo Viello cartoon face masks!
Duo Viello's New Venture
Last month marked the 1-year reunion anniversary of Duo Viello since our debut concerts in the Bay Area. Last week, Andrew was busily recording for the Minions 2: The Rise of Gru movie. While our live in-person concerts are on hold, plans for the near future include live broadcast concerts. In the meantime, since Andrew is also a wonderful cartoonist, we are thrilled to announce that we are now selling fun-to-wear face masks (and eventually, socks!), featuring his music themed cartoons - starting with a first-run special edition of the Hippo and Bear Face Mask!
Please support our mission to not only bring a rich, joyous and beautiful sound combination of the viola and cello to the world - but to help everyone stay safe with peace of mind, by buying your mask today. This run ends on August 31, 2020. Options to either have them shipped to you, or to pick yours up from Annie after the close of the campaign are both available.
Bach Quad Having Fun
After a rewarding 8 episodes of the Bach Quadrupletet this past Spring, the adventure continues with a weekly Summer Series. Tea drinking, with occasional feline guests Wilson and Pepper Yeh, and other highlights to come. To enjoy these short weekly episodes, here is the playlist: The Bach Quadrupletet. Subscribe to the channel, Annie Yeh Performances, by hovering over Wilson, in the lower right hand corner of any episode, and clicking on Subscribe.
Savasana with Marcello Yeh
This new playlist of relaxing solo cello tunes is suitable for yoga practitioners at the end of their practice during Savasana. It of course can also be enjoyed while knitting, sipping a soothing beverage, lying down anywhere, or any time you need a moment to sit, take a breath and relax. Have a listen to Annie's arrangement of Dvorak’s Going Home, for 5 cellos. More tunes will be added in the months ahead.
Who is Marcello Yeh?
Marcello Yeh is the name of Annie's 1926 Czechoslavakian Prokop cello (not pictured above). When returning to the US after visiting with a dear Czech violinist friend, Aida Shabuova, and acquiring Marcello in 1996, Annie was required to purchase a passenger seat on the plane for him. The booking agent asked Annie what the name of the passenger was, so she said, “actually, it’s my cello.” He misheard her, and said, “Marcello Yeh?” So she went along with that, and Marcello has stuck ever since.
