Duo Ballet-Cello

Ballerina Elizabeth Borge and Cellist Annie Yeh

A new collaboration of two old friends dating back to age 12…

  • Elizabeth is a newly minted ballerina. She grew up in Pennsylvania, and met Annie when they were 12 at Masterman School. Elizabeth began her artistic career as a clarinetist, but it was not until much later that she discovered her love for dance, especially ballet.

Elizabeth had a few detours on her dance journey, namely obtaining a PhD in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, then following up with a career as a cancer researcher at Fox Chase Cancer Center. She always promised herself that one day she would take the time to learn ballet.

In 2014, she began with once a week adult ballet classes as a true beginner, not having the strong foundation many adults established as children and teens. In 2015, she started at the Wissahickon Dance Academy for classes several times a week where she received excellent technical training. Elizabeth has also studied at the Pennsylvania Ballet Academy, Balletx and with Amy Novinski.

In 2020, she landed her first lead role as Stepmother in En Pointe’s Cinderella, but the show was canceled because of the pandemic. She danced in the Winter’s Dream by Christina Castro-Tauser in 2020 in a virtual performance. She made recent appearances in Winter’s Dream, inperson, as a community artist in December 2021. She has also performed in original pieces choreographed by Corinne Karon (Tap), Christina Castro-Tauser (Ballet), Peyton Bellman (Contemporary), and Amy Novinski (Contemporary, Ballet, and Contemporary Ballet).

Elizabeth teaches yoga, tai chi, is a nutrition consultant, life and holistic health coach, Reiki Master and a personal trainer. She is the owner of Fit for Life Jenkintown, founded in 2019. Her studio provides a safe environment for adults who may be new to fitness and dance and othersinterested in maintaining fitness or who just want to move and have fun.

Currently, Elizabeth is co-producing an international tai chi teacher training, and is participating in an NIHfunded research study as a collaborator. Elizabeth loves Hip Hop, Tap, African, Contemporary and Praise dance forms as well.
